Eagle River Nature Center

Tucked at the end of Eagle River Road, this award-winning nature center serves as a gateway to Chugach State Park. With well-maintained trails like the Rodak Loop and Albert Loop, the center offers close-up encounters with salmon streams, beaver dams, and interpretive signage. It hosts educational programs, guided hikes, and features rustic cabin and yurt rentals for overnight adventures in the wild.

Chugach State Park – Eagle River Access

Covering nearly half a million acres, Chugach State Park extends right into Eagle River. The area offers world-class hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing. Popular access points include the Eagle River Campground, South Fork Trailhead (to Eagle and Symphony Lakes), and the steep but rewarding Mount Baldy Trail. It’s a haven for backcountry explorers and day hikers alike.

Beach Lake Park

Located just north of Eagle River, Beach Lake Park is a sprawling recreational complex that transforms with the seasons. In summer, it’s a hotspot for fishing, canoeing, and wildlife watching; in winter, it boasts more than 15 kilometers of groomed cross-country ski trails. It’s also home to a public shooting range and trail systems used for dog mushing and fat biking.

Mirror Lake & Edmonds Lake Park

This dual-lake park along the Glenn Highway is a favorite for families. Mirror Lake features a sandy beach, picnic shelters, a playground, and a sand volleyball court. Trails loop around the lakes for walking, skiing, or birdwatching, and the boat launch makes paddling a breeze. It’s the perfect destination for a sunny afternoon or a peaceful morning stroll.

Eagle River Lions Park

Managed in part by the local Lions Club, this 34-acre community park is a recreational centerpiece. It offers multiple athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts, and hosts events like Eagle River’s Fourth of July celebration. With ongoing improvements and plenty of open space, it remains a popular gathering spot for sports leagues, families, and community events year-round.
